Orlové Manor was saved from demolition by a new owner, today it is one of the most beautiful hotels
Traveling connected with getting to know history is becoming more and more popular among Slovak and foreign tourists. Exactly Orlové mansion it brings a perfect combination of relaxation, great gastronomy, but also history, which goes back to the times of Maria Theresa. Its equipment, location and services make it an ideal place not only for relaxation, but also for important meetings, weddings or conferences.
The history of the Orlové mansion, which is located in Považská Bystrica, began to be written in the 17th century, when it was built by the Balaš family as a one-story mansion. A few years later, already in the next century, it was expanded to its current form after extensive reconstruction and rebuilding, and then the unique late-baroque Chapel of St. John of Nepomuck.
After some time, the historic building came into the hands of Princess Šarlota Majlátová and then into the hands of Ján Kubelík, a well-known Czech composer and violin virtuoso. Later, however, the manor belonged to the state, the ravages of time took its toll on it, and it began to deteriorate. When Nodari Giorgadze, the owner of the GINO Holding company, was given the opportunity to buy the land and the mansion, he decided to take the more difficult path of reconstruction and thus preserve history for future generations. He saved the building and since then the Orlové manor is the headquarters of the Gino Park Palace**** hotel, which has accommodation, a restaurant, a cafe, lounges, a wellness and fitness center, as well as the mentioned historical chapel and a park.
It thus offers clients first-class service, great gastronomy and unforgettable experiences. This place is sought not only by history lovers, couples in love, but also by families with children who came here to relax. The non-traditional historical space is especially interesting for organizers of business events and entrepreneurs who are already tired of classic congress halls. In the Orlové manor, events have a touch of historical luxury with waiters in white gloves, tasty cuisine and excellent service.
A salvaged gem
Only a few kilometers from the D1 highway exit separates guests from Považská Bystrica and a visit to this unique place that breathes the ancient past. History was also taken care of during the reconstruction itself, which was subject to strict controls by the monument office. This brought, for example, a change in the color of individual parts of the mansion.
The Orlové Manor is a great place for relaxation, private events, but also business meetings, which will acquire a stamp of excellence thanks to the local atmosphere.
Within the chapel, in addition to the gold leaf, the original dark red color was discovered on the ceilings, which replaced the blue color of this unique room, which is the only one in the mansion that has a height of two floors. Today, visitors in the chapel can admire rare objects and paintings of great historical value, an organ from the 19th century, but also the artistic rendering of the main and side altars. Public services are held here every Saturday, and you can often meet newlyweds who have decided to say their vows right here and take advantage of having the ceremony in the same area where the entire wedding reception takes place.
With respect to history
However, let's take a look behind the walls of the Orlové mansion itself, which functions as a hotel facility, but the spirit of history can be felt in every step of it. The renovation was guided by the motto that the hotel adapts to the mansion and not the mansion to the hotel. Every room it has a different dimension, because during the reconstruction care was taken to preserve the dimensions of the original rooms of the mansion. Thanks to this, you can find rooms of different standards and styles here, from the luxurious presidential suite to the historic de luxe rooms or the rustic classic rooms with exposed beams. This makes the mansion exceptional and, moreover, very desirable, which is also confirmed by the increased interest from visitors in recent years.
The manor really gives guests a choice - whether you prefer royal comfort with high ceilings, attic rooms or rooms with a view of the park, one thing is certain: the perfect comfort awaits you, which will make you think differently. In addition to accommodation in 47 comfortable rooms, the hotel provides visitors with relaxation in a cozy wellness center. Brick vaults give it a historical touch, three saunas, a whirlpool, deckchairs and a Kneipp bath to stimulate blood circulation provide perfect relaxation.
There is also no shortage of activities on the premises of the hotel, guests can play billiards in the hunting lounge, table tennis, sit with great food or a fresh dessert, or solve the mystery of the interactive historical encryption game that will guide you through the corners of the manor.
Perfect place for a wedding or corporate event
Exceptional events they deserve an exceptional environment and it doesn't matter if it's a family celebration, a wedding or a spectacular company party. The benefit of the Orlové manor is a representative environment, the possibility to accommodate and also serve more than a hundred guests in the restaurant. "We approach each event individually and prepare the event according to the client's needs.
Specific are, of course, weddings, when everything has to be perfect, exactly according to the newlyweds' ideas. Over the years, we have held countless events and we can say that we specialize in organizing weddings and events, which is why we received the Historic Hotels of Europe - Historic wedding experience award," says Business & Development manager Elizabeth Šilhanová.
In addition to the aforementioned weddings and celebrations, team building events are also popular in the manor, where guests can taste Georgian wine and brandy, tour the manor, enjoy a tasting dinner, enjoy live music or even listen to an organ concert.
Gastronomic experiences
It is also clearly worth mentioning the hotel's excellent signature cuisine under the leadership of chef Matej Gašpierik, who brings guests new gourmet experiences. These will certainly include those that you can experience during the rich gastronomic program, which is accessible not only to the guests staying but also to the general public. Popular events include tasting dinners or special menus linked to different festive seasons, such as Easter, Valentine's Day or New Year.
"We always like to prepare something new and unusual for our guests. In October, we are waiting for a gastronomic experience workshop Mlsný jázyček with the chef of the mansion. In December, we are again looking forward to the Christmas feast, which will be connected with the Christmas bazaar, music and delicacies that the guests can enjoy directly in the courtyard of the mansion," says Elizabeth Šilhanová about the plans for the next period. "During these events, we are happy to welcome guests who want to stay, but also the public from the surrounding area or from all corners of Slovakia. Although we are a hotel, the manor house and its grounds are open to the public at all times, with the exception of private events such as weddings.'
Relax in the park and explore the surroundings
In the Orlové manor, guests like to get lost not only in time, but also in the beautiful park, which dates back to the 18th century. Here they will find a historic linden alley, which was planted by the Balašov family, as well as a number of other rare historical trees and plants. The park is home to several species of birds and animals, while walking along the many paths and quiet corners you can see squirrels, but also wild deer.
However, rest is not the only thing guests can enjoy during their stay. Even the more active ones will enjoy it. For hotel guests, they organize educational trips around the area with a professional guide. They can get to know the Považ castle or discover the magic of the Súľovské rocks or the Manín Gorge.
For those who like to explore the surroundings from the saddle of a bicycle, bicycles are available directly at the hotel. The cycle paths in upper Považí provide enjoyment for cyclists of all performance categories, and even complete beginners will enjoy themselves. They can enjoy, for example, an easy bike tour from Považská Bystrica, which will take them through the Manínska tisňava nature reserve.
